Intrauterine Devices (IUD/IUS – Mirena or Copper Coil)

  • Intrauterine devices (IUDs) and intrauterine systems (IUS), commonly known as coils, are highly effective long-term contraception methods.
  • The copper IUD is hormone-free and prevents pregnancy by releasing copper ions, which are toxic to sperm. It can remain effective for 5–10 years.
  • The hormonal IUS, such as the Mirena coil, can be used for contraception for up to 8 years. It is an effective treatment of heavy bleeding, painful periods, and endometriosis.
  • Fitting is a quick outpatient procedure, usually completed in under 15 minutes. We provide thorough consultation, safe insertion, removal, replacement and aftercare advice as a minor outpatient procedure.
  • Both are reversible, with fertility returning quickly after removal.

Outpatient Hysteroscopy & Endometrial Biopsy

  • An outpatient hysteroscopy uses a small camera to have a look inside the womb, while being awake. If needed local anaesthetic spray can be used.
  • It is used to investigate abnormal bleeding, post-menopausal bleeding, or suspected submucous fibroid (inside the womb) and polyps.
  • A biopsy can be taken during the same procedure to test tissue in the laboratory.
  • It is a quick, short lasting procedure.
  • We ensure to do it in a supportive environment, ensuring comfort while delivering rapid, accurate diagnostic results.
  • It can detect hyperplasia, cancer, or inflammation, guiding next treatment steps.
  • If benign conditions like polyps are found, minor surgical removal can be arranged. After the procedure, women may have mild cramping or spotting, but recovery is quick. We ensure safe practice, timely results, and compassionate care.

Vulval Biopsy & Minor Lesion Excision

  • A vulval biopsy involves taking a small tissue sample from the vulva to diagnose skin changes such as itching, lumps, ulcers, or discolouration. It is quick, usually under local anaesthetic, and results are available to discuss in next few weeks.
  • This helps to detect the vulval skin conditions like lichen scherosus, lichen planus. Our team ensures a respectful, private setting for this sensitive procedure, making it as comfortable as possible for women.
  • We also provide excision of small benign lesions such as cysts, warts, or lumps under local anaesthetic. These are removed safely in the outpatient clinic, with quick recovery and minimal discomfort. Tissue may be sent for lab testing to confirm diagnosis. Aftercare advice is always provided, including hygiene and wound care.
  • By offering biopsy and excision services, we ensure women get rapid answers, reassurance, and timely treatment for vulval conditions in a professional environment.

Routine Cervical Smear & Cervical Polyp Removal

  • A cervical smear is a preventive screening tool that detects HPV (Human papilloma virus). The procedure is quick, taking only a few minutes. Our clinic provides sensitive, supportive screening services, encouraging women to prioritise reproductive health.
  • We also remove cervical polyps, which may cause bleeding or discharge. Removal is quick and painless, performed during an outpatient visit. Tissue is sent for testing. Women can resume normal activities almost immediately.
  • Our clinic offers preventive screening with minor treatments, ensuring comprehensive cervical care that gives women peace of mind and confidence.

Services Not Offered

To maintain a clear and transparent service catalogue, we specify treatments not provided at our clinic. We do not perform colposcopy or vulvoscopy for abnormal smears.

We also do not offer cosmetic gynaecology procedures such as labiaplasty.

Our focus remains on evidence-based medical and surgical gynaecology treatments aimed at improving health and wellbeing rather than cosmetic alteration. This clarity ensures patients know exactly what services are available.
